Medical Team
Kim LauFounder, Project Co-LeadI’m Kim Lau, a first-year medical student at Cal Northstate. I grew up in Davis, so being able to work with so many community members who have come together on this project feels very personal. I'm passionate about LGBTQ rights, particularly across racial, class, and national boundaries, as well as building a more holistic and contextualized healthcare system. I love spending time with people over food, whether it be cooking, eating, or learning about the origins and influences that came together for every dish.

Christina LowryProject co-leadI'm Christina Lowry a 3rd-year medical student at UC Davis School of Medicine and a community health enthusiast. I could not be happier about my choice to be involved with the unhoused population during this challenging time. I am constantly humbled by the appreciation and resilience of this community. I'm in awe of their sense of family, and this also represents the amazing partnerships that have come from this disaster. When I'm not on outreach calls, I love to be outside running, hiking, biking, playing with my puppy and eating Thai food all while maintaining social distance.

Ellen AsselinCamp lead, Sac Soup LIAISONMy name is Ellen Asselin, and I'm a third-year medical student from UC Davis. I’m interested in Emergency Medicine and wilderness medicine – the needs of the unhoused communities in Sacramento represent a really interesting confluence of the two, and it’s awesome to be part of this project and hang out with these resilient folks. If I weren’t studying to be a medical doctor, I would be working as a whitewater river rafting guide.
